CRICKET MATCHES
August 20 & 21
Fort Anne will host the 4th
Annual Cricket Tournament. The
crack of willow on leather will once
again be heard in the Ancient Home
of Cricket in Nova Scotia. The
matches, complete with a
traditional players’ tea break
between innings, will be contested
wearing uniforms of the 1890’s. An
introductory workshop to the sport
will be offered at 10 a.m. on
Sunday, Aug. 21. 902-532-2397.

The Mi’kmaq welcomed the
French to Port-Royal over 400 years
ago. Here, the two cultures met and
shared experiences and knowledge.
A strong friendship and alliance was
formed which would eventually
lead to intermarriage between the
Mi’kmaq and the French. The
members of the Association des
Acadiens-Métis-Souriquois are
descendants of this alliance. Come
learn about their rich culture.

anniversary of the official grand
opening of Port-Royal National
Historic Site, come visit the site on
a special free family day, sponsored
by the County of Annapolis and co-
hosted by Parks Canada. Bring
family and friends and some lawn
chairs and a picnic. Enjoy musical
entertainment, fly your kite, give
Parka a hug, take part in children’s
activities, snap a picture sitting in
the “red chair”, learn about the
history of the reconstruction and
make sure to visit the Habitation.
